Project X the first strike is an original game that combines the point and click fighter genre with the RPG gaming genre, and it actually does a good job of it.
The story:
50 years ago or more earth was destroyed by a meteor and we had to move into space in search for a new planet to live on, and we found it. However, creatures from another Galaxy had their eyes set on the planet too and nearly wiped out humankind. In secret, in a laboratory, survivors worked on a weapon that is capable of destroying the alien scum, and it is ready.
Your task is to keep the Aliens at bay long enough for the weapon to power up and go online.
Project X, as stated combines point and click with RPG, which by itself is nothing new, but it is when it comes to combing point and click shooters with the RPG genre. In this regard playing Project X is playing an RPG that is completely controlled by the mouse, which gives it a unique look and feel.
Moving along in the game requires you to kill off all enemies in the vicinity, after which arrows appear that determine the direction you go when you click on them. The same goes for health packs and upgrades, click them and they become active.
Project X can be best compared with classic FPS games like House of Death, where the player is guided through the levels in a similar fashion.
Project X is a unique game with nice graphics, excellent sound effects and an excellent storyline to boot. It is a game that will provide you with hours of gaming fun, and will at times remind you of the House of death, and on other occasions of Duke Nukem, as the game has elements of both games in it.
Can you hold off the aliens long enough for Project X to go live, while keeping yourself in one piece? There is only one way to find out…
